TOMATOES BEFORE BED – Eating tomatoes has a lot of proven health benefits but here’s why this is not good to be eaten before going to bed.

The rich red color of tomatoes is an indication of the presence of lycopene – this is a powerful antioxidant that helps protect cells from getting damaged. It is also a very rich source of Vitamin C, potassium, folate, and vitamin K.

The lycopene it has is a powerful antioxidant. Most red or pink foods likely contain this antioxidant but the other foods rich in lycopene are:

It can be found in tomatoes, and this particular fruit that is also considered a vegetable by nutritionists has a lot of health benefits but one thing you must avoid is eating this before going to bed.

Why is that so?

Accordingly, it has loads of tyramine. The compound or amino acid that releases norepinephrine which triggers brain activity resulting in disturbance in your sleep or delaying it. Other foods that have tyramine are eggplant, soy sauce, red wine, and aged cheeses, such as Brie and Stilton.

It also contains acid which is not advisable for people suffering from acid reflux as it can cause heartburn. Based on an article from Doctor NDTV, tomato is best eaten during breakfast. It also noted that eating tomatoes at night might increase the chance of getting cancer.
