The World Health Organization (WHO) has already warned about physical inactivity as the “leading cause of disease and disability”. 2 million deaths are recorded yearly because of this. WHO promotes healthy, active, and tobacco-free lifestyles.

Accordingly, this kind of lifestyle “increases all causes of mortality, doubles the risk of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and obesity, and increases the risks of colon cancer, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, lipid disorders, depression, and anxiety.”

Experts have always suggested being active every day and working out for at least 30 minutes daily along with healthy nutrition.

The health risks are mentioned above and in order to avoid this, you may practice little changes in your lifestyle like incorporating movements to avoid being sedentary. You may do things like walking after every meal, standing up every 30 minutes if your work requires sitting a lot, doing house chores like gardening, using stairs instead of elevators, and almond others.

Mental health is also affected by being inactive. A study has found that a sedentary lifestyle and lack of physical activity increase the risk of developing a mental health disorder.

In order to reduce the chances of chronic health conditions, mental health disorders, and premature death, practicing a more active lifestyle with healthy eating habits are must things to do.
