A classic symptom called itchy throat can just be easily remedied and here are some things to know about this.

ITCHY THROAT – A physical irritation that is really bothering is called itchy and here are some effective remedies to cure this irritation.

An irritation that makes a person suffer from difficulty swallowing or talking is called itchy throat. This condition is a very classic early symptom of allergy, allergic reaction, or early illness. When the pandemic happened, this is also one of the symptoms that indicates infection.

There are several factors causing itchiness in the throat and that include dust, animal dancer, certain foods, mold, pollen, and inhaled pollutants like chemicals, pesticides, tobacco smoke, and others.

Having this kind of condition does not include suffering from being not able to breathe. It just causes discomfort and the moment you feel there’s difficulty breathing, wheezing, or there’s a pain when swallowing, you should medical attention.

Here are some effective remedies:

  • Salt Water Gargle
    Do gargle a half teaspoon of salt with eight ounces of water two to three times a day. Never swallow it and gargle for at least 10 seconds.
  • Eat a tablespoon of honey in the morning.
  • Apple Cider Vinegar
    Mix a tablespoon of ACV to eight ounces of water. To add flavor, you may add a tablespoon of maple syrup or honey.
  • Milk and Turmeric
    Boil, over medium heat, a teaspoon of turmeric to eight ounces of milk, and drink the moment it’s warm enough to consume. Drink every evening.
  • Herbal Teas
    • Some herbal teas to ease itchiness are:
      • stinging nettles
      • ginkgo
      • licorice
      • dong quai
      • red clover
      • chamomile
      • eyebright
      • slippery elm
      • milk thistle

For other treatments, there are also over-the-counter (OTC) antihistamines available.

According to a blog from World Allergy Organization, Dr. Iris E. Hidalgo Nicho said that the cough as a result of an itchy throat can be considered a chronic cough. Adults who are suffering from a cough for over eight weeks is already a chronic cough.
