Aphrodisiac – What Is An Aphrodisiac, The Aphrodisiac Meaning

What is the aphrodisiac meaning, and some aphrodisiacs that are said to boost your “mood”?

APHRODISIAC – Can certain foods really stimulate one’s desire or is it just something that’s in our heads? Here are some things about aphrodisiacs.

It has been said that an aphrodisiac is a food or substance that can help increase and stimulate desire or something that improves pleasure and performance. There are foods that press the love senses such as the sight, smell, taste, and touch to boost a person and get him “in the mood to do it”.

According to a study, the word is derived from ëAphroditaeí, the Greek Goddess of love. Accordingly, there’s a large percentage of men, ages 40 and 70 who are suffering from the dysfunction. And using foods under this category prevents and improves this condition.

It has three classifications based on its mode of action: increase libido, potency, and pleasure. Based on the study that sought scientifically proven herbal aphrodisiacs, among these herbals that are potentially aphrodisiacs included:

  • Chlorophytum borivilianum
  • Mondia whitei
  • Tribulus terrestris
  • Crocus sativus
  • Myristica fragrans
  • Phoenix dactylifera
  • Lepidium meyenii
  • Kaempferia parviflora
  • Eurycoma longifolia
  • Satureja khuzestanica
  • Panax ginseng
  • Pausinystalia yohimbe
  • Fadogia agrestis
  • Montanoa tomentosa
  • Terminalia catappa
  • Casimiroa edulis
  • Turnera diffusa

There are five types of this, but all of these types have unproven theories. First is the one that gives warmth and moisture to boost passion, next is the appearance. If it has a resemblance to those parts down there of a male or female, they are believed to increase desire and one example of this is the infamous oysters.

Following are the reproductive organs and eggs which are said to boost desire. Another type is how exotic a food can be. The more exotic, the more exciting it is believed to be. And finally, the sense. Using the senses in sight, smell, taste, and touch is said to increase passion.
