KETO DIET FOODS – These are some of the foods you must avoid eating or must not be eating if you’re on a ketogenic diet.

If a person engages himself to do the keto diet, he must have already accepted that he has to drop sources of processed grains and sugar, like pizza and muffins. This diet involves a low-carb, high-fat diet.

This diet depletes your body with the carbohydrates it needs as the primary source of energy but forces the body to burn fat for fuel, thus, the weight loss effect it has.

Now, here are the 10 foods you must avoid and the reason why behind them:

  1. Refined carbs such bread, pasta, rice, and others. You might want a mashed or riced cauliflower as an alternative or experiment with your eggs, nuts, and seeds to make a low-carb bread.
  2. Beers, liquors, and other mixed drinks because they came from sodas, juices, and purees.
  3. Honey and syrups because they are concentrated sugars.
  4. Ketchup, barbecue sauce, and other condiments because actually have sugar in them – they are packed in sugar.
  5. Margarine whether it is light or low fat because they trans fats and you can determine this by looking for the word “hydrogenated” in the list of ingredients.
  6. Dried fruits and trail mix and this is because of the sugar it contains. Trail mix often have chocolate chips, candies, or sugar-coated nuts. 
  7. Foods with “low fat” label on them because this just means that it contains more sugar for lacking fat. Low fat or fat-free yogurt, low fat or fat-free mayonnaise, low fat salad dressings, reduced-fat peanut butter, and reduced-fat or skim milk are all high in sugar content.
  8. Starchy vegetables and one example of this is potato because it is high in carbs.
