HUNGRY AFTER EATING – There is one typical reason why one is hungry but to be famished and crave for more even after eating, that’s another thing.

When we are hungry, we can hear our stomachs growl, feel shaky, and at times, one may feel on edge. And when this happens, automatically, we think of eating and filling up the tank in order to perform better and have the energy to be productive.

Biologically, the body releases a hormone called ghrelin in the stomach which signals the brain that you are hungry. And once we’ve eaten, it is the leptin that tells the brain that we now have enough energy and that there’s not a need to consume more food.

However, in some cases, many people experience that despite eating a lot and feeling full already, the urge to eat more and more foods remains pretty intense. And one might wonder, ‘Why am I always hungry?’

Being hungry frequently has many reasons behind it and here are some:

  • Because of foods that are sugary like drinks, pastries, and candies. These foods will not give you a lasting energy and the better choices are foods with fiber, whole grains, fruits, or vegetables, healthy fats from salmon, nuts, avocado, and lean protein like eggs, beans, grilled chicken.
  • Because of stress. The cortisol level of the body rises, thus, the hunger.
  • Because you’re thirsty or dehydrated. Drinking water can prevent you from overeating.
  • Because of spike in blood sugar. Eating too much sugary foods can make insulin more than you need.
  • Because of pregnancy. If you’ve been craving new foods or feeling sick over the ones you used to eat could be an early sign.

Based on an article from WebMD, other reasons include low blood sugar levels, diabetes, eating too much, being unsatisfied with the food you just ate, you smelled something appealing, an overactive thyroid, lack of sleep, and many others.
