What to expect in an infant aged between 7 to 12 months? Here’s a baby development stages guide.

BABY DEVELOPMENT STAGES – These are the milestones of a baby aged 7 months to 12 months from the physical to social milestones.

The first of a baby is surely s whirlwind of milestones. Crawling, babbling, picking up toys, lifting their heads, and among others are their achievements. The way they respond and even their journey to eating solid foods is a whirlwind experience.

These are the behaviors and physical skills a baby reaches and masters as he or she grows.

Rounding up, the first-year milestones include rolling over, reaching for objects, sitting up, and crawling. The behavioral and social milestones, on the other hand, include mimicking expressions and crying or laughing to show emotions.

Check out below:

7th month

This month, between the 5th and 7th month actually, your baby’s teeth will start to grow one by one. There will be a lot of babbling and he or she will start to mimic the expressions you make. The baby can also sit on their own, eat solid foods, put food into their mouth, crawl, and move around, and he or she can able to say ‘mama’ or ‘dada’.

8th month

The child can finally sit well unsupported and even stand up through furniture. There will be a lot of moving around and they will start to enjoy eating small pieces of soft solids like banana or avocado. This is the time when parents will have a busier time as the baby will start to move a lot. This requires patience and energy. They become stronger and more mobile. When it comes to emotion, the baby becomes emotional and will experience separation anxiety. He or she can respond when his or her name is called.

9th month

At the 9th month, they can handle finger foods better and pick their foods and eat them. They will babble a lot, copy sounds, and would even stop when you say “no”. They also learn to bend their knees to sit down, lean forward, and start to understand the words you say.

10th month

Your baby will be very active. They can crawl and you start to chase them around and your baby is starting to develop their own personalities. They will be more interested in playing than eating, curious about how things work, react to music through bouncing, get very social like smiling at everyone or shying away from other people, and at this time, they can speak their first word.

11th month

By this time, they will have their preferences in terms of food. They may stand and take their first steps, sip from a cup and drink by themselves, be interested in books with photos, enjoy listening to music, and their communication skills will get better. Keep talking to them as much as possible.

12th month

They start pushing, kicking, throwing, banging pots, and putting objects inside containers and some babies can stand on their own and they can speak through babbling that will sound like a conversation. Reading and talking with your baby can help and you may even start to teach them to say ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ as per a post from Pregnancy Birth & Baby Org.
