Doc Willie Ong Cites Study Showing the Effects of Taking Sweet Beverages

SWEET BEVERAGES – Doctor Willie Ong cited a study that shows that drinking sweet beverages increase the risk of dying.

Undeniably, a huge part of the population are into sweets. Many like eating cakes, chocolates, pastries, ice cream, leche flan, and other desserts. Also, a lot of individuals would prefer drinking softdrinks, iced tea, or juice over plain water.

Truths be told that these are delicious food and drinks. However, taking them on a daily basis may not be good for the health.

In a video, Doc Willie Ong cited a study in Circulation Journal. The said study shows the bad effects of drinking sweet beverages excessively. It increases the risk of dying by about 63% in females and 29% in males.

According to Doc Willie, the study involved 118 thousand people. It went on for 34 long years before the results were derived. The participants of the study were asked on their preferred drink among juice, water, and softdrinks.

In the video, Doc Willie Ong expressed that the study found that those who drink more than 24 ounces of sweet beverages got the highest chance of dying. The said amount is equivalent to three (3) glasses of softdrinks which have seven (7) teaspoons of sugar each in fast-food chains.

Why do people who drink sweet beverages have a higher chance of dying early? It is mainly due to its effects such as the following:

  1. Obesity
  2. Diabetes
  3. Heart Attack
  4. Stroke
  5. Cancer

To avoid it, it is best to prefer water or fruit drinks. Based on the video, if you are really into drinking soda, you may consider the diet beverages which have lesser sugar content.
