The extent of the droop may cover just a little or may take as much space as it already covers your pupil. It can affect your vision as the lower the droop is, the higher the possibility that it will block your normal vision.

Apart from saggy skin, there may also be tiredness and pain present around the eyes. You may also experience extremely dry or watery eyes and your face may look weary or tired.

Treatment of this may require surgery, however, it will still depend on what causes it.

Here are the possible causes:

  • Weakness of the muscle that raises the eyelid (the muscle is responsible for lifting the eyelid)
  • Damage to the nerves that control that muscle
  • Looseness of the skin of the upper eyelids

Meanwhile, according to the post from Mount Sinai, it can also be because of the normal aging process, or a result of an injury or disease.

These diseases, on the other hand, may also lead to this condition:

  • Tumor around or behind the eye
  • Diabetes
  • Horner syndrome
  • Myasthenia gravis
  • Stroke
  • Swelling in the eyelid, such as with a stye

The sagging of the upper eyelid may be treated or improved through eyelid lift surgery or also called blepharoplasty.

Anyone can get this condition but it is in older adults and this is due to the natural aging process.
