BLURRY VISION – Health expert and a trusted personality Doc Willie Ong shared some tips for old people who are already experiencing blurred vision.

A blurred vision, especially to people of old age, is very common. This condition is caused by a problem of some parts of the eye such as cornea, retine, or optic nerve. Other medical conditions that causes your vision to become blurry are the following:

  • eye strain
  • conjunctivitis
  • corneal abrasion
  • high blood sugar
  • hyphema
  • iritis
  • migraine with aura
  • optic neuritis and; among others

Meanwhile, as for old people who cannot see clearly, Doc Willie Ong suggests, to the people they live with in a single house, to keep the lights inside the house brighter so as they can avoid accidents.

Moreover, when writing for them, let your handwriting be bigger than usual, put colored tapes on your stairs to ease their steps in climbing it up or walking down, clearer electrical outlets and switches for them to easily identify it, and drinking right volume of water needed everyday to prevent dry eyes.

For clearer eyesight, here are some you must follow according to the public health expert’s post:

  • Eating a wide variety of fruits and green leafy vegetable because the contain anti-oxidants and vitamins A, C, and E. 
  • Consume omega-3 fatty acids through eating fishes such as tamban, tawilis, dilis, hito, hipon, salmon, alumahan, tuna, tambakol, tanigi, tulingan and salinyasi.
  • Use sunglasses as protection against ultraviolet rays.
  • Always have your eyes checked.
  • Prevent and cure health problems like high blood and diabetes.
