KABAG or COLIC – Doctor Willie Ong gave some tips on how to avoid this condition that causes the frequent farting of a person.

Undeniably, one of the embarrassing things that could happen to a person is to get caught by farting while in the company of other people. It can cause great shame most especially when it happens inside a closed air-conditioned room, a car, or an elevator.

Farting is most embarrassing when it comes with a foul smell. Surely, not everyone will speak about it but all in the room will be curious on who released some foul gases. Are you one of those who experience frequent farting?

Based on a video of Dr. Willie Ong, a normal person farts ten(10) to twenty(25) times a day. It is due to the air simply trapped inside the stomach or the bacteria producing it. Anything beyond 25 farts daily may point to colic or what is more popularly known as “kabag”. Here are some of the reasons why a person may have it:

  • speaking for long period of time
  • indigestion caused by fast eating
  • eating food high in fiber
  • drinking too much milk
  • nervousness

According to Dr. Willie Ong, there are ways to avoid colic or “kabag”. Here are some tips on how to prevent frequent farting:

  • minimize eating fiber-rich food
  • limit drinking carbonated drinks
  • do not eat too much in one mealtime
  • exercise
  • avoid stress
  • do not sleep in front of the electric fan or air-conditioning unit

In the video, Doc Willie stressed that there is nothing wrong with farting as it is a normal process for the body to release the trapped air. However, frequent farting can increase the heart rate.
