Health tips about diabetes.
HEALTH TIPS – Doc Willie Ong discusses diabetes and some of the most important things we must know about this kind of condition.
The condition that disables the body he body’s ability to process blood glucose, otherwise known as blood sugar is called diabetes. It has three types:
- Type 1 – fail to produce insulin which means that one must take artificial insulin daily to stay alive.
- Type 2 -this has strong links with obesity and although the body still produces insulin, the cells do not respond to it just as effectively as they did.
- Gestational diabetes – this occurs during pregnancy where the body becomes less sensitive to insulin.
Symptoms of diabetes:
- Always tired.
- Frequent use of comfort room to urinate.
- Eating a lot but not gaining weight.
- Wounds that do not heal easily.
- Sexual problems.
- Numbness of foot or hands.
- Always hungry.
- Blurry vision.
- Always thirsty.
- Vaginal infection.
In order to determine that you have diabetes, take the Fasting Blood Sugar Test where you have to fast for 10 hours before taking it. In Hemoglobin A1C, if the result is below 5.6, then it is normal. When it came out between 5.7 to 6.4, it is mild diabetes while 6.5 or above is already a diabetes.
What are the foods allowed to eat if you have diabetes? Fruits, vegetables, brown rice, wheat bread, and the foods you must avoid are cheese, full cream milk, oils, soft drinks, butter, anything that is sweet, white bread, white rice, and oily foods such as fries. Also avoid drinks high in sugar and stick to drinking water only.
