Undeniably, a drinking session with families and friends really come once in a while most especially to men. It usually happens when there are special occasions to be celebrated and everyone wants some catching-up conversation over some glasses.

Although alcohol is not really good for the body, a few glasses during special occasions only may not be that bad. However, do not drive after drinking no matter how little you drank.

In a video, Dr. Willie Ong expressed that a face turning red during drinking session is a bad sign for those with high blood pressure. It is called “Alcohol Flushing Syndrome” and it indicates sensitivity to alcohol.

When it happens, the blood pressure rises and there is a bigger chance of getting a throat or an esophageal cancer. Aside from the changes in the facial color, here are the other symptoms of the said condition:

  • flushed skin
  • nausea
  • headache
  • rapid heart beat
  • restricted breathing
  • dizziness
  • sweating
  • itchy skin

In the video, Dr. Willie Ong expressed that it is best to lessen or avoid drinking to also prevent this syndrome. When it can’t really be avoided, the doctor advised to drink slowly.
