CORONAVIRUS – Doctor Willie Ong revealed the bad news and the good news about this disease that hit China.

China was greatly affected by the novel coronavirus. It was first recorded in Wuhan City in the province of Hubei and the authorities had to lock it down due to the widespread of the disease.

In China, at least 40,000 people were infected by the virus. More than 1,000 died due to the said disease including some of the doctors who helped treat the patients. Some nurses also contracted the disease.

The COVID-19 outbreak in China has reached other countries as some people who visited Wuhan were infected. Also, there were Chinese people who flew from Wuhan to other countries before the travel ban was implemented.

Currently, several countries are still fighting against the spread of COVID-19. Recently, in a video, Dr. Willie Ong gave an update about the coronavirus. He cited the good news and the bad news about it.

According to Doc Willie, the bad news is that there is a possibility that the virus will be widespread in the community in certain countries in case it is already a “sustained transmission”. He stressed that Singapore and Hong Kong are already preparing for it as thousands may be infected.

On the brighter side, the doctor cited that the death rate due to nCoV is at 2% now and can still be reduced. In the video, he cited some tips on how to lessen the risk of the disease:

  • Avoid areas where infections have occurred. Work from home if possible.
  • Wear surgical mask at all times – the higher the grade, the better.
  • Wash hands regularly. Use hand sanitizer after contact with public surfaces such as elevator, bathrooms, and handrails.
  • Avoid hand contact in public surfaces altogether when possible. Use elbows or shoulder to open doors rather than hands.
  • If you have recently been sick or suffer from asthma, avoid public areas and isolate yourself
  • Drink medicine every four (4) hours if you have fever.
  • Drink plenty of water if you have cough.
  • Do not forget to take a rest.
  • If you have maintenance medicines, take it on time.
  • Take a bath everyday.
