Currently, most countries are implementing stricter measures to combat the spread of the 2019 novel coronavirus. It was initially recorded in Wuhan City, China but it has already reached several other countries.

The Philippines, the United States, Hong Kong, India, and Nepal are among those with confirmed cases of novel coronavirus or nCoV. France, Japan, and Sri Lanka also got confirmed cases.

The government of each country reminded everyone to practice proper hygiene and to avoid public places as much as possible now to curb the spread of the virus. Amid the outbreak in China, medical masks ran out of stocks.

The novel coronavirus is just one of the many strains of coronaviruses that can infect humans. To avoid them, we must make careful moves regarding our eating habits and the food preparation.

Based on an article on World Health Organization (WHO), it is best to avoid eating raw or under-cooked animal products. Be careful in preparing raw meat, milk, and animal organs to prevent cross-contamination.

Also, the WHO advises using of different boards and knives for raw meat and cooked food. It is best to wash your hands with soap and water before handling raw food and cooked food.
