In many cuisines around the world, eating raw foods is a common practice because through this, a person gets to taste the real flavor of a particular food. However, despite how popular this way of eating is, there are safety concerns one must consider in terms of consuming raw or undercooked foods.

Those who not advised to eat raw foods are pregnant women, infants, young children, the elderly, and people with weakened immunity, or people with diabetes, liver or kidney disease, organ transplants, HIV infection, and receiving chemotherapy or radiation therapy. Consuming such oftentimes lead to food poisoning which is a serious case in the susceptible population.

  • Raw eggs – it can have salmonella that can make you sick and lead to poisoning.

Steak tartare, tuna tartare, carpaccio, Pittsburgh rare steak, some types of sushi, ceviche, and torisashi are just of the common raw meat dishes from around the world

If you wish to eat, make sure that it is from reliable suppliers, handled properly so as to prevent contamination, washed thoroughly with water, and it must be consumed as soon as after the preparation. But still, the best way to eat your food is for it to be properly cooked.
