Have you experienced pink discharge? This is what it can possibly mean.
PINK DISCHARGE – Women usually get a red discharge, the normal type and color but some experience pink discharge and this is what it means.
When the uterus sheds its lining, the period happens, and the menstrual blood flows from the uterus through the cervix and then exits the body through the vagina. In the duration of your period, the color of the blood might change.
The color may be black, orange, deep red, and sometimes pink.
These colors of your period actually indicate something about your health. Black or brown blood is usually old blood while dark red blood signs that you’re about to end your period or the blood that has been there and it hasn’t oxidized yet.
Bright red blood, on the other hand, means that it is fresh and is flowing quickly. This is the color a woman gets at the start of her period. Orange blood is a result when blood mixes with cervical fluid and the gray blood or off-white discharge is associated with an infection, and for pregnant women, this is a sign of a miscarriage.
How about the pink blood?
There are women who experience this during or after their period. According to Flo board member, obstetrician, and gynecologist Dr. Jenna Flanagan, this happens mostly when fresh blood combines with discharge.
Dr. Flanagan explains, “The blood can be from any number of sources, including the vulva, vagina, cervix, or uterus.”
It is also normal to have this at the tail-end of your cycle. The majority of the time, this is normal and easy to treat. However, if it happens between your periods and comes with other symptoms like pain when you pee or during sex, discharge with an unpleasant smell, or stomach cramps, have a checkup with your doctor immediately.
