The Himalayan salt is naturally pink and it is said that it is one of the purest salts available and has several benefits to health. This type of salt is mined in Pakistan near the Himalayan Mountains. It is mined just like rock salt.
And just like the table salt we have, it is made up of 98 percent sodium chloride. The rest are minerals like potassium, magnesium, and calcium.
Now, what does make it different from other salts?
Pretty much like the table salt we know, we use this for cooking, seasoning, and preserving food. It contains no calories, protein, fat, carbohydrates, fiber, and sugar.
Based on a post from Health Human, these are the benefits of this backed by scientific explanations:
- It can help detoxify the body due to its mineral content.
- It naturally contains iodine, something that is artificially added to table salt.
- It can help to hydrate us which makes this a great addition to our post-workout drink.
- Its mineral content can help balance the body’s pH level.
- It has therapeutic benefits. Heard of the Pink Himalayan salt lamp? It helps purify the air.
