However, truths be told that having a complete set of white teeth is challenging to achieve. That is why kids should be taught about the importance of brushing it daily at a young age.

The state of our teeth may also have something to do with our eating lifestyle. We all know that sugar causes tooth decay but there are top food that can really trigger it. They are the following:

  • Doughnuts
  • Candies
  • Chocolates

In a video, Dr. Willie Ong and Dr. Joyce Ambray, a dentist and member of the Philippine Dental Association, discussed about oral health. According to the dentist, the following must be avoided:

  • opening bottled drinks using the teeth
  • nail biting
  • not brushing your teeth for 24 hours

According to the doctors, plaque may build-up in as fast as twenty (20) minutes. When it reaches 24 hours, it will turn into a hard plaque and brushing it may not anymore be effective to remove it.

In the video, the doctors stressed that it is really important to brush the teeth at least twice every day. Also, you may eat some fruits and vegetables like apple and celery as they can help in cleaning the teeth.

The doctors also clarified that the toothpaste color does not matter. What is important is you know how to brush your teeth well and your are using the right mouthwash as there are those that are for the gums, for cleaning, and for mouth problems.
