DIABETES – Doctors Willie and Liza Ong cited the best food that diabetic individuals must eat and those that they must avoid.

Nowadays, more and more people are becoming diabetic. Undeniably, most of these people got the said health condition from their lifestyle. There are those who got it from family history but it can also be easily acquired by living for sweet food and drinks always.

Diabetes can lead to other complications if you do not know how to handle it well. It can lead to blindness, to losing a part of your body as the wounds don’t heal, and to several other health problems. Meanwhile, if you know how to deal with it, you can live long enough – happy and healthy.

  • If the GI is higher than 70, you may easily get hungry and eat more.
  • If the GI is between 56 to 69, it is on the average.
  • If the GI is 55 and below, it indicates a slow pace of the sugar in the blood.

According to Doc Willie and Doc Liza Ong, people with diabetes must eat food with low glycemic index or the rate it spikes sugar in the blood. Food with low GI can prevent them from getting hungry always and becoming fat. These food include the fruits, vegetables, and nuts.

  • When eating mango, take only one part or slice.
  • Avoid Pinoy food like cuchinta, puto, and other rice food.
  • Limit your desserts consumption.
  • Drink only a half cup of milk.
  • Avoid sodas, iced tea, coffee with cream, and other sweet drinks.
