Tired and exhausted? Here are some signs of burnout that you should know!
SIGNS OF BURNOUT – Everyone goes through the phase of being burnout and here are some indications that tell you’re indeed burned out.
Are you feeling tired and exhausted from all the things that used to drive and motivate you? Feeling like everything gets under your skin just merely thinking of things that you used to be so passionate about doing? This could be because you’re burned out.
Most workers and professionals are experiencing these depression-like symptoms as a result of stress that is related to their jobs.
Here’s the set of psychological symptoms:
- Reduced performance and productivity
- Anxiety
- Detachment
- Feeling listless
- Low mood
- Difficulty concentrating
- Lack of creativity
- Fatigue
- Negative attitudes towards one’s coworkers or job
- Low commitment to the role
- Loss of purpose
- Absenteeism
- Quickness to anger
- Job turnover
- Cynicism
- Emotional numbness
- Frustration
The physical signs of burnout:
- Exhaustion
- Generalised aches
- Headaches
- Gastrointestinal disorders
- Hypertension
- Difficulty sleeping and/or a disrupted sleep cycle
- Increased chance to get colds and flu
- Muscle tension
According to a post from Very Well Mind, this is “reversible”. You may just need to do some changes in your work environment. Strategies like self-care such as healthy eating, regular exercise, and getting healthy sleep may also be of help. Taking a vacation may also give you a relief to focus your attention for a while away from your work.
Causes behind burnout may include pressure in time, lack of support and communication, not knowing what is expected of you, a hopeless workload, and being treated unfairly.
There’s a big difference between being stressed and workout. Stress is when everything around you is demanding too much from you, physically and mentally, while burnout is when you feel empty. You feel nothing, you’re mentally exhausted, and nothing seems to motivate you.
