Here are some high cholesterol foods and those that can lower cholesterol level.

HIGH CHOLESTEROL FOODS – These are the foods you must avoid eating because of their high cholesterol and what you should eat to lower eat.

Cholesterol has two forms: LDL (low-density lipoprotein), or “bad” cholesterol, and HDL (high-density lipoprotein), or “good” cholesterol. While consuming a certain amount or form can be perfectly safe, the body already does the cholesterol you need. Necessarily speaking, you won’t need to consume it through foods. Experts suggest you should take as little dietary cholesterol as possible.

High Cholesterol Foods

The reason why cholesterol is dangerous is that it circulates in the bloodstream. High levels of bad cholesterol can bring negative effects on the body and increase the risk of heart disease and stroke.

High levels of LDL form plaque that builds up in blood vessel walls narrowing and blocking the way of the healthy flow of blood in the body. This may cause a heart attack or other problems.

In lowering the levels of cholesterol, among the foods that can help include oats, barley and other whole grains, beans, nuts, vegetable oils, foods fortified with sterols and stanols, and fatty fishes.

Here are the high-cholesterol foods to avoid:

  • Full-fat dairy like whole milk, butter and full-fat yogurt and cheese because they are filled with saturated fat.
  • Red meat like steak, beef roast, ribs, pork chops and ground beef. Instead, pick lean ground beef, lean cuts of beef such as sirloin, tenderloin, filet or flank steak, pork loin or tenderloin, and choose the lower-fat sources of animal protein.
  • Processed foods such as bacon, sausage, hot dogs, and many others.
  • Any foods cooked in high amount of saturated fat and cholesterol of the oil are also included.
