Dr. Damman said that products like tore-bought pastries, white bread, and bagels, “containing high fructose corn syrup should be avoided.” The expert added that these foods lack “fibers that are transformed by gut bacteria into molecules that grow healthy colon cells and protect your body from obesity and diabetes.”
Dr. Damman also said that if this can’t be avoided, one option is to have baked goods that contain whole grains and it was also advised that people should stay away from products with high fructose corn syrup.
Processed meats
Processed meats like bacon, hot dogs, beef jerky, and more are associated with a higher risk of colon cancer. This is because the natural components and additives in the meat get transformed into carcinogens while the cooking process is being done.
Sugary drinks
Sugary drinks such as sodas, as well as juices and some diet sodas, can harm your gut. This kind of beverage has fructose corn syrup, saccharin, or sucralose. To quench your thirst, it is much better to just drink cold water.
