Here are the common stretch marks causes and the treatments to get rid of them.

STRETCH MARKS CAUSES – These are the reasons why stretch marks appear in streaks in parts like your stomach, breasts, hips, butt, and thighs. 

The lines or streaks that appear across our skin and commonly seen in body parts like the stomach, breasts, hips, butt, and thighs are called stretch marks. These are just normal and through time, it gets less visible. In color, it can be either pink, red, brown, black, silver, or purple. 

Stretch Marks Causes

In having stretch marks, you canno possibly prevent it from happening but throug maintaining a healthy weight, you are likely to avoid this. Although they are not really pleasing to the eyes, these strips are also not harmful to our health.

Here are some of the common causes:

  • being pregnant
  • puberty
  • rapid weight gain
  • medical conditions like Marfan syndrome and Cushing’s syndrome
  • Corticosteroid use
  • some kinds of steroid creams or tablets

Also, if you are a female, there’s a high chance that you’ll have these marks and has a family member who has them. As for treatment, although there are some creams and lotions that claim to prevent, reduce, or remove it, there is little evidence regarding this.

Retinoid or tretinoin creams or hyaluronic acid are often used for this. There are also methods like light or laser treatments and microdermabrasion where a thin layer of skin is removed can also be done.

In an article from American Academy of Dermatology Association, remedies said to prevent stretch marks such as almond oil, cocoa butter, olive oil, and vitamin E do not work effectively.
