China’s Hero-Doctor “Li Wen Liang” Writes Poem Before Death Due to Novel Coronavirus
CHINA’S HERO-DOCTOR – In 2019, Dr. Li Wen Liang discovered about the novel coronavirus which held China under an outbreak.
Before the year 2019 ended, a big challenge was already by the doorstep of China. The people of Wuhan City were infected by a disease that was deemed “mysterious” during that time.
The said disease was, later on, identified as the novel coronavirus or the new coronavirus. It is one of the many strains of coronavirus that can affect humans.
The novel coronavirus holds Wuhan City under an outbreak now. More than 40,000.00 people were infected and at least 900 died due to the said viral disease that targets the respiratory system.
Even before the novel coronavirus has spread, a doctor discovered about the disease and spoke about it. He’s Dr. Li Wen Liang.
Based on a video of Dr. Willie Ong, China’s hero-doctor, Li Wen Liang, was tagged as the “whistle blower” of the disease that is now known as the novel coronavirus. He was arrested by the authorities for still unknown reasons.
Dr. Li Wen Liang, despite knowing about the disease, continued to fulfill his duty. He placed his own health at risk to treat patients of the novel coronavirus – truly worthy to be called as China’s hero-doctor.
Sadly, the doctor also got infected by the novel coronavirus. In February 7, he passed away due to the said disease leaving behind his wife who is pregnant with their second baby.
The wife of Dr. Li Wen Liang was also infected by the novel coronavirus. Based on the video, before he passed away, China’s hero-doctor was able to pen a poem wherein he quoted, “2 Tim 4:7-8 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”.
“The Hero Who Told The Truth”
I don’t want to be a hero.
I still have my parents, and my children,
And my pregnant wife who’s about to give birth,
And many of my patients in the ward.
Thou my integrity cannot be exchanged for the goodness of others,
Despite my loss and confusion,
I should proceed anyway.
Who let me choose this country and this family?
How many grievances do I have?
When this battle is over,
I will look up to the sky,
With tears like rain.
I don’t want to be a HERO but as a doctor,
I cannot just see this unknown virus.
Hurting my peers and so many innocent people.
Though they are dying,
They are always looking at me in their eyes,
With their hope of life.
