HOLIDAY TIPS FOR DIABETICS – Prominent cardiologist doctor Willie Ong gave some tips for those with diabetes and high blood pressure this holiday season.
Undeniably, one of the hardest thing to resist is the temptation to eat delicious food although it is not fully healthy for the body. Truths be told that many of us cannot stand this challenge and would easily give in to eating the food to satisfy our cravings.
Things are becoming more irresistible when it is holiday season. Family gatherings and catching up with friends are everywhere – and always over food. When there are special occasions, the Filipinos would even prepare pork lechon – the favorite of many people but the source of cholesterol. Too much of it is not advisable for people who have hypertension or high blood pressure.
Aside from lechon, also among the food usually prepared during the holiday season are the sweets or desserts. Almost all dining table would have at least one (1) dessert like cake. However, this type of food may not be good for those with diabetes unless it is sugar-free.

- Do not eat the head when eating shrimp
- Do not eat the crab fat when eating crabs
- Go for a check-up
- Have enough sleep and rest
- Drink your maintenance
- Do not eat the burnt part of the barbecue
- Always eat before drinking
