One of the frightening things that can happen to us is when our heart beats rapidly without any external reason. Let us take for example that it is palpitating even if we have not done a strenuous work or there is not anything that makes us feel nervous.
According to Dr. Willie Ong, a heart palpitation may be risky or not. There may be nothing to worry about if there are no other symptoms and you are living a healthy lifestyle and exercise regularly.
However, if you feel dizzy and would sometimes fall unconscious when your heart is palpitating, a medical attention may be needed. The normal heart beat is between 60 to 90 per minute and if your heart beats 150 times per minute, it is called “Supreventricular tachycardia or SVT” by the cardiologists.
Based on the video, there are two (2) common causes of heart palpitation. Dr. Willie Ong cited the over-activity of the thyroid and the lack of potassium.
Lack of sleep, unhealthy food habits, lack in blood due to menstrual period, and sun exposure and perspiration may also lead to the heart palpitating rapidly. Here are some home remedies for heart palpitation as to Dr. Willie Ong:
- Eat high potassium foods like banana and potato.
- Reduce exercise.
- Relax
- Deep breathing
- Listen to music
- Meditate
- Avoid stress
- Have enough sleep
Based on the video, there are ways on how to stop your heart from palpitating but it must be consulted with a cardiologist. Some doctors also give medicine to stop the rapid beating of the heart.
