Doc Willie Ong Speaks on Benign Positional Vertigo
DOC WILLIE ONG – The Cardiologist explained benign positional vertigo and the things that you can do when it happens.
A lot of people are suffering from benign positional vertigo which brings extreme dizziness that can really stop you from doing anything – even from moving. It can literally turn your world around that you would not want to make any action.
What is benign positional vertigo? According to Doc Willie Ong, it is an ear problem. The vestibular system where the body’s balance is coming from can be found in the ears and when there is dirt or infection inside, it can cause extreme dizziness which can last for days.
Doc Willie cited that the dizziness usually starts in the morning when the person wakes up. It can be triggered if you abruptly get off the bed and your head was moved fast. The dizziness can last for several days and here are some of the things that you can do to help ease it:
- Do not move your head. It is best to keep your sight forward and not to move your head up or down and backward.
- Keep your eyes open. In his post, the doctor suggests the patients to only sleep at night.
- You can watch television all day so your eyes will only be focused in one direction. It is advised to seat only while watching and not lay in bed.
- For those who are experiencing nausea or don’t want to eat, take an oral rehydrating solution to prevent dehydration.
- When eating, keep your forward position and do not move your head up and down. Based on the post, it is advised to be on a soft diet or just bananas.
- When sleeping, use three (3) pillows in your head so it will be elevated.
- Keep on moving slowly even if you have already recovered from benign positional vertigo.
