What are the possible causes of fainting? What are the things you can do to prevent this from happening?
CAUSES OF FAINTING – Here are the possible reasons behind why a person loses consciousness for a short amount.
Have you ever experienced passing out for a short amount of time and you don’t know why it happened? Fainting is losing consciousness because your body is not getting enough oxygen that it needs.
Fainting is medically called syncope and is more common to people as passing out. This incident can last for a few seconds to a few minutes and before painting, you can feel lightheadedness, dizziness, weakness, or feeling nauseous.
As per the causes, there are certain medications that cause a person to pass out, and that included medicines used to treat conditions like high blood pressure, allergies, depression, and anxiety. Health conditions like diabetes, heart disease, irregular heartbeat, panic attacks, and others may also cause this.
Check out the other causes of passing out below:
- Dehydrated – loss of fluid or lack of water makes blood pressure drop.
- Low blood sugar – this is called hypoglycemia which may make you feel dizzy, shaky, tired, confused, and blurred your vision.
- Seizure – rolling back and jerking movements are just some of the symptoms and the loss of unconsciousness does not only last for a few seconds but for minutes.
- Heart problems – anything that damages, blocks, or narrows the blood vessels hampers blood going to the brain which may result in cardiac syncope.
Shock, hyperventilation, too much coughing, drinking alcohol, and tight clothing in the neck may all cause the passing out. And to prevent this from happening, know what’s triggering it so as you can avoid doing it and avoid fainting at the same time, and don’t skip meals.
Also, if you’re feeling already the symptoms, try to send blood to your brain by putting your head in between your knees as per Healthline.
