Go to your doctor if you have a canker sore and have these symptoms.
CANKER SORE – If you experience the following signs and symptoms with your canker sore (singaw), you must need to seek medical assistance.
Small and shallow lesions that appear in soft tissues of the mouth are called mouth sores. It only lasts a week or two and there are a few types: minor, major, and herpetiform. This occurs more often in teens and young adults and more common in females.
- Minor happens three or four times a year to people ages 10 to 20 and measures lesser than 1 centimeter. It heals after a week.
- Major is less common but bigger that it can even last for over two weeks. They heal with scarring.
- Herpetiform is rare and appears in clusters of tiny ulcers. This usually heals after a week.
A minor injury caused by dental work, overbrushing, accidental cheek bite, food sensitivities, a diet lacking in vitamin B-12, zinc, folate (folic acid) or iron, emotional stress, and hormonal shifts during menstruation is among the factors that can trigger canker sores. In a previous post, if you have a canker sore, it would be best to be on a light diet to avoid worsening.
