A healthy tropical fruit that many people love and is loaded with nutrients is Papaya. They have a sweet taste, vibrant color, and most especially, a wide variety of health benefits. When eaten, you can notice that it is soft and a fleshy fruit.
It has green skin outside which turns yellow when ripe. Also, it has black seeds that although edible, they taste bitter.
Now, here are the benefits of eating papaya:
- Aids and improves digestion. It softens the stools due to its papain enzyme. This could also be a remedy for constipation.
- It is good for the eyes because it contains an antioxidant called Zeaxanthine which helps filter out harmful blue light rays.
- Reduces cancer risk because of the beta-carotene found in them and it also slows down cancer progression.
- This improves skin and promotes healing of wounds. The powerful antioxidants it has help skin recover from sun damage and prevent wrinkling. As for healing, experts believed it is because of their proteolytic enzymes chymopapain and papain.
Aside from the above stated benefits, papaya also reduces risk of heart disease, diabetes, and lowering blood pressure.
