Here’s a list of nucleic acid rich food. Check them out below!
NUCLEIC ACID RICH FOOD – Here’s an overview of the importance of nucleic acid and the foods that contain this.
DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) and RNA (ribonucleic acid) are the two common types of nucleic acids. DNA and RNA are present in all living cells. RNA, in particular, has several dietary benefits according to Gordon Research Institute such as improved bowel health and liver function.
There are also foods that contain nucleic acids.
July 2012 Chemical Analysis of Food: Techniques and Applications report said that “nucleic acids are polymers of acidic monomeric subunits known as nucleotides”.
Any food from a living thing like animals, plants, and yeast has this.
Check out below:
- MEAT
According to the Encyclopedia of Food and Health 2016 report, meats are naturally high in nucleic acids such as chicken and red meat like beef and pork. - SEAFOOD
Fish, particularly sardines, have the highest levels of nucleic acids. Chlorella, a type of single-celled algae is also a great source of this along with fatty acids and polysaccharides. - NUTS
Most varieties of nuts have high levels of this. They are also excellent sources of proteins and unsaturated fats. - VEGETABLES
January 2018 study in the journal Nucleic Acids Research said that vegetables like Chinese cabbage, cauliflower, spinach, beans, and broccoli are excellent sources. - MUSHROOMS
They are low in cholesterol, fat, calories, and sodium; but high in vitamin E and selenium. Varieties like flat, whitecap (button), cep, and oyster mushrooms are excellent sources. - YEAST
Hydrolyzed and autolyzed yeast are good sources.
DNA is important because it carries code for proteins and other molecules necessary for growth, development, and overall health. Nucleic acids are composed of nucleotides and these are essential to almost every biological process in the body.
