Dr. Willie Ong Gives Tips On Best Diet For Diabetics
DIET FOR DIABETICS – Doctor Willie Ong explained the diet for people who are suffering from diabetes.
Diabetes is one of the diseases that many people in the Philippines are suffering from. A person who has it can still live long enough provided that he or she exhibits utmost lifestyle discipline.
It is no secret to the public that the number one (1) thing that is against diabetes is sugar. That is why people who have the said diseases must avoid eating and drinking sweets.
However, aside from the fact that diabetes does not sit well sit sugar, there are little known facts about the said disease. In a video, Dr. Willie Ong generously discussed it including the diet for diabetics.
According to Doc Willie, there is no such thing as “mild” diabetes. If you are diabetic, it is really possible that 50% of the cells in your pancreas are damaged.
Due to the said damage, your blood sugar exceeds the normal rate which is 105mg/dl. Citing the father of diabetes, Dr. Augusto Litonjua, not all food are against diabetes.
Based on the video of Dr. Willie Ong, the diet for diabetics include the avoidance of certain drinks like iced tea, soft drinks, and cappuccino. According to the doctor, drinking a cup of iced tea can really make you gain some weight in a week.
Doc Willie recommends drinking water instead. Also, he clarified that not all fruits are good for people with diabetes. Mangoes, pineapples, avocados, grapes, and lychees are among those that must be consumed in moderation.
According to the doctor, eat only one (1) slice of mango or eight (8) pieces of grapes. Based on the video, there are also fruits that are recommended for diabetics – apples, bananas, and pears are among them.
With regards to the rice consumption, Doc Willie advises people with diabetes to limit but still eat rice. He stressed that not eating rice or not getting carbohydrates can make a person weak. It is best to consume one (1) cup of rice paired with one (1) saucer of vegetable viand.
