DIABETES TIPS – Doc Willie Ong shares to us the variety of foods which are allowed and not allowed to be eaten by people with diabetes.

People with diabetes are in very delicate condition and this can be a challenging type of disease. It is of Type 1, Type 2, and gestational. In type 1, the body does not make insulin, type 2 where the body does not make use of insulin well, and gestational is for women who get this kind of diabetes when they are pregnant.

Diabetes Tips

Symptoms of diabetes include getting tired all the time, frequent urination, eating a lot but losing weight, a wound that doesn’t easily heals, numbness of feet, blurry vision, and always thirsty.

So, what are the foods allowed for diabetic people to eat?

  • Brown rice
  • Wheat bread
  • Fruits and vegetables
  • Lessen meat consumption
  • Reduce intake of cheese and full cream milk
  • Avoid soft drinks and any sweetened drinks
  • Stop eating butter, cakes, and chocolates (anything that makes blood sugar spike up)
  • Reduce rice intake (eat a half cup or one cup)

Most doctors suggests diabetic people to eat green leafy vegetables, whole grains, fatty fish, beans, nuts, citrus fruits, probiotic yogurt and among others.

To control blood sugar, one must have a regular exercise, right and healthy diet, and taking right medication from an expert such as tablets or insulin. Moreover, Doc Willie advises for diabetic people to take care of their feet because a wound might worsen and can ultimately lead to amputation.
