While mood changes are normal, there are several factors to consider. As such, you must observe if the symptoms have been existing for a long period of time and see if it affects your behavior and how you deal with your daily routines. Anyone can be diagnosed with this condition regardless of age, gender, and others.
Check out the different types of this condition:
- Major depression
The person loses his interest in things he usually does. He feels extreme sadness, hopelessness, emptiness, and other physical, cognitive, and emotional symptoms. - Dysthymia
This can last for up to two years, at the least, where a person gets a chronic form of depression or irritable mood. - Bipolar disorder
This is also called manic depression or bipolar affective disorder where a person suffers from alternating episodes of depression or mania.
Meanwhile, there are also other factors that trigger this. Health conditions like cancer, injuries, infections, and chronic illnesses or effects of being induced by substances like medicine, drug abuse, alcoholism, exposure to toxins, or others can ignite symptoms of depression.
