DOC WILLIE ONG – Here’s the list of great foods to eat to have a great skin according to public health expert Doc Willie Ong.
Aging causes decrease in collagen and elastin which results to wrinkles and folds in the face. And as much as we are all aware of, face is an important part of the body because this is the first thing that people see in someone which is why we have to do something to make it look pleasing in the eyes.
Now, here are the foods you must eat in order to have and maintain your great skin:
- Foods with Vitamin A or beta carotene to repair body tissues and protect skin from the sun. Sweet potatoes, carrots, squash, tomatoes, guava, lettuce, mangoes, and others are rich in Vitamin A.
- Foods with Vitamin C in order to produce collagen and serve as protection against free radicals. Guava, mangoes, calamansi, dalandan, chili pepper, melon, strawberry, “okra” or lady finger, pineapple, papaya, and watermelon are just some that contain Vitamin C.
- To protect the cell membrane, avocado, peanuts, red bell pepper, mangoes, papaya, broccoli, and tomato paste are all rich in Vitamin C.
- Selenium is needed for prevention damages that the sun light can cause which can be found in oyster, tilapia, brown rice, chicken, eggs, and canned tuna.
- Foods with zinc are oysters, beef, tenderloin, peanut butter, cashews, peanuts, walnuts, and green peas. Zinc is essential for collagen and to avoid redness or any infection in the skin.
- Omega 3 fatty acids also protects the skin damages caused by the sun to which the rich sources include sardines, dilis, tawilis, hasa-hasa, alumahan, galunggong, tamban, walnuts, talaba, and seaweeds.
- Teas have polyphenols and antioxidants.
- Stay hydrated. Fruits and vegetables with high water content are also great like watermelon, papaya, pineapple, peppers, melon, mango, calamansi, dalandan, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, lettuce, and many others.
