Medical Center Explains Ruptured Aortic Aneurysm & Its Possible Effects
RUPTURED AORTIC ANEURYSM – Here is a guide on the possible effects of the ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm – can bruises appear?
Recently, #aneurysm went trending on social media again following the death of a flight attendant, Christine Angelica Dacera, who was found dead in a hotel in Makati City.
Dacera was with her friends in the hotel to celebrate the New Year. According to her friends, they had hard drinks and they also played parlor games as they welcomed 2021. They celebrated with some people who were staying in another room of the hotel.
However, on January 1, Dacera’s friend Rommel Galido claimed that he found her unconscious in a bathtub when he came to wake her up so they can go home. They tried to revive her and even rushed her to the hospital.
However, Christine was declared dead on arrival. The first autopsy determined ruptured aortic aneurysm as the cause of her death. The specific part was not determined on reports.
On the part of her family, they are not convinced that she died of a natural death because of the bruises in her body and the other factors present.
Amid the issue, there are questions on whether or not a ruptured aortic aneurysm can cause bruises. Based on an article on Westchester Medical Center, it is possible for abdominal aortic aneurysm or the “ballooning of the abdominal aorta exceeding its normal diameter by more than 50 percent”.
Also called as Flank ecchymosis in relation to a ruptured aortic aneurysm, bruises can be signs of retroperitoneal hemorrhage. Based on the article, it is also called as Grey Turner’s sign.
Most often, patients suffering with a ruptured AAA dies before reaching the operating room. It can happen even without any sign at all or with just little prior symptoms that seem unnoticeable.
On the case of Dacera, investigations are ongoing as the authorities retrieved new evidences that may help solve it. Apart from the bruises, there are several other factors igniting questions on the loved ones of the flight attendant.
