HOW TO TREAT LBM – Doctor Willie Ong generously shared some information on treating loose bowel movement or diarrhea.
Undeniably, one of the health conditions that can easily affect people regardless of age is the loose bowel movement or more commonly known as LBM. It is also called as diarrhea and the opposite of constipation.
Although LBM may appear to be a common health condition, it should not be taken for granted as it can lead to worse scenario. One of the major results of untreated LBM is dehydration which can really cost a life.
According to Dr. Willie Ong, LBM is more risky to children. For the elderly, it can be a sign of a heart problem or an imbalance in the potassium and sodium in the body. Just like to children, it can also cost a life.
In a video posted on his YouTube channel, Dr. Willie Ong also shared some information on how to treat LBM or diarrhea. Here is a list of what you can do in case you are suffering from it:
- Consider taking a BRAT diet as it can help regulate your bowel movement. BRAT stands for banana, rice, apple, and tea.
- Replace the fluids released by your body through taking an oral dehydration solution.
- Take a rest.
- Take an antibiotic if you experience fever and loose stools. A blood in your waste may also prompt for the need to take antibiotic.
- In case there is blood in your stool, undergo a stool exam or a stool culture to identify the bacteria which is the reason of the infection.
According to Dr. Willie Ong, to avoid LBM or diarrhea, it is best to be careful in cooking and to clean the utensils and the cookware well. Also, to avoid food spoilage, it is recommended that you put the food in the fridge for two(2) hours after the preparation.
