LEFT SIDE HEADACHE could indicate a lot of things about your health and here are the different indications of this.
There are two types of headache – primary and secondary. The primary headaches are migraine, tension, hypnic, and cluster. The secondary is more serious than the primary and more painful.
Specifically talking about headaches, many of us sometimes suffer from the pain that is only on the left side. Oftentimes, it could be because of migraine or cluster headache. This pain will also occur caused by several factors such as injury like a concussion, diet, insufficient sleep, or conditions such as allergies, high blood pressure, or stroke.

- Tension
This feels like there’s a tightened band around your head and your face and scalp are squeezed. - Migraine
Women are two to three times more likely experience this which feels like there’s an intense throbbing pain on one side of the head. It comes with nausea, vomiting, and sound and light sensitivity. - Cluster
It comes in cluster of days or weeks which will be followed with a remission period. The pain is intense and your eye in the affected side could be red, watery, and painful. - Sinus
The pain feels like there’s a diffused pressure behind the eyes, at the sides of the nose, and sometimes, above the teeth. - Chronic
This could be either migraine or tension but happen at least 15 days a month for 6 months or more. - Cervicogenic
The pain caused by a problem in the neck. The pain occurs in one side of the head, pain in the eye, and soreness in the neck. - Hemicrania continua
This brings a constant and chronic pain. - Hypnic headache
This has a throbbing, sharp, and stabbing pain.
Lifestyle factors such as drinking alcohol, skipping meals, being stressed, and sleep deprivation will trigger this. However, you must seek an expert’s advice if:
- the pain feels like the worst headache of your life
- you’ve had a change in the pattern or severity of your headaches
- the headaches wake you up at night
- the headaches started after a blow to the head
- confusion
- fever
- stiff neck
- vision changes
- double vision
- pain that increases when you move or cough
- numbness, weakness
- pain and redness in your eye
- loss of consciousness
