Here are some health facts about these over-the-counter meds you shouldn’t drink at the same time.

Self-medications can be dangerous at most times because there are medicine combinations out there that are deadly. There are some common combos that have risks and dangers for mixing, not checking labels, and other common drug mistakes.
Here are some dangerous combinations:
- Alaxan and Biogesic (They have both paracetamol and paracetamol overdose can lead to liver failure as cancer.)
- Alaxan and Neozep
- Neozep and BioFlu (They are both Paracetamol-Phenylephrine Chlorphenamine Maleate and they were just branded of different name.)
- Alaxan and BioFlu
- Alaxan and Medicol (This is because they both have Ibuprofen and both are anti-inflammatory drugs.)
- Neozep and Biogesic
- Biogesic and BioFlu
According to the Facebook post from Healthfacts, these drugs should be taken seriously in right amount for too much of these can lead to liver failure as cancer. Also, avoid drinking alcoholic drinks when you have consumed these for the combination will create a toxic chemical which is enough to destroy the function of the liver.
They are also the primary causes of Gastric Ulcer due to its anti-inflammatory effects. However, this doesn’t mean you should never take these, you still need to but in the right way and right amount with the right combination. This also shows that consulting to a doctor before taking any medicines is important for the sake of your safety.
Meanwhile, the UNILAB left a comment in the post clarifying that paracetamol and ibuprofen do not necessarily cause liver failure, gastric ulcer, or cancer. They have reminded that even though these OTC medicines can be bought without any prescription and are safe to drink, it is still important to know the dosage and the indications.
