DOC WILLIE ONG – Health expert Doc Willie Ong shares habits that damage the nerve, artery, and vein of the body.
The nerves, arteries, and veins of the body all play an important bodily function. Below are their respective roles:
- The nerve is the basic unit of the peripheral nervous system which transmits electrical impulses throughout the body and relays the information from a certain part to another.
- The arteries are responsible to deliver oxygen-rich blood from the heart to the tissues of the body. It has three layers – the intima, the media, and the adventitia. The largest artery of the body is the aorta.
- The vein is the one that transports blood from various regions of the body to the heart. It is among the major components of the cardiovascular system which delivers nutrients to the cells of the body through the blood.
According to Doc Willie Ong, here are the bad habits we probably don’t know yet that are damaging the nerve, artery, and vein of the body:
- Lying all day, on computer of most of the time, doing manual laundry, or any activities that press the hands can affect the nerves.
- Prolonged sitting in a hard chair pressing in your butt can affect your sciatic nerve.
- Lifting heavy objects most of the time can damage the spinal cord.
- Don’t put anything tight to the neck as it can affect the carotid which delivers blood to the brain.
- Don’t wear too tight jeans as it can affect the arteries.
- Standing for a long period of time as it may result to varicose veins.
