For several months, countries have waited and worked on the development of vaccines that could help in the fight against the pandemic. Several nations and companies have developed vaccines that include Pfizer, Moderna, Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Sputnik V, and Janssen.
However, although there are vaccines available now, many Filipinos have yet to be vaccinated. Some are hesitant as to the possible side effects of the jabs. The national government continues to encourage people to get vaccinated most especially amid the emergence of new variants of COVID-19 now.
One of the COVID-19 variants that hooked attention is the Delta variant. It sparked alarm in different countries due to its higher transmissibility rate.
The Philippines is one of the nations that recorded cases of the Delta variant of COVID-19. The national government even placed the whole Metro Manila under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) for two (2) weeks in the pursuit to prevent the spread of the said mutated version of the virus.
Based on The Conversation, there are Delta variant symptoms that were spotted common among many patients of the said variant of COVID-19. Here is a list:
- headache
- sore throat
- runny nose
- fever
- persistent cough
Based on the article, the list was obtained from the United Kingdom. While cough and fever are known symptoms of COVID-19, earlier data showed few claims of running noses among patients.
Thus, a runny nose is a rare case that was found among the other Delta variant symptoms. This data is telling the public to be extra careful and observant of their bodies as a mild cold bringing runny nose and sore throat could already be a case of COVID-19.
