WHO Reacts to Coronavirus Myth About Sun Exposure
CORONAVIRUS MYTH – The World Health Organization (WHO) explained whether or not sun exposure helps prevent COVID-19 infection.
The world is suffering from a pandemic now – the 2019 novel coronavirus or officially called as COVID-19. It has affected several countries and taken thousands of lives.
Globally, the total confirmed cases of coronavirus is over 935,000. The death toll is at 47,000 while the recoveries are nearly 195,000.
The said disease was first recorded in China. Currently, the United States is the country with the most cases of COVID-19 at 215,000. Amid the outbreak, several coronavirus myths crossed the surface.
One of the said myths is that sun exposure helps prevent COVID-19 infection. On its official website, the World Health Organization (WHO) addressed the said coronavirus myth.
According to WHO, it is not true that exposure under the sun can prevent a person from getting infected with coronavirus. The international body stressed that “you can catch COVID-19 no matter how sunny or hot the weather is”.
Also, WHO noted that nations with warm weather got confirmed cases of coronavirus. Exposing yourself to temperatures higher than 25 degrees celsius won’t help keep you safe from COVID-19.
Sun exposure to prevent COVID-19 is a coronavirus myth we should not take. Still, the best prevention is to frequently wash your hands and avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
Stay at home, everyone. Be safe.
