Eating a good and sweet dessert is a perfect way to end a meal. The sweet, rich flavors seem tempting and we have this “dessert stomach” where the body tends to make space for a new flavor experience which is the dessert.
Research suggests that eating sweets after a filling meal can help with digestion and raise serotonin levels in the brain. This leads to a calmer and happier mood.
But sugar is not quite a part of clean eating. Sugar is not healthy and bad for health for many reasons. Fortunately, you can step up from this and still indulge to satisfy your sweet tooth by eating a dessert that is sweet and healthy at the same time.

Here are some ideas to have a dessert but in a healthier manner:
- Try the classic tandem of Berries and Cream. This is sweet, juicy, and low in calories. You may use a whipped cream or a low-fat sour cream.
- Frozen Fruit Bars are the healthy version of popsicles. It would be easy to buy some from the market but you will make it better by making one in your own home. By this, you may control the sugar you are putting into them.
- Dark Chocolate has less sugar. It is mostly made up of cocoa but be mindful that the higher the cocoa, the higher the caffeine is.
- Yogurt Parfait sounds elegant and it’s just as elegant knowing the health benefits of this creamy and flavorful dessert. Just watch out for your portion size.
- Fruit and Cheese like dates, figs, or apples along with brie, goat cheese, or cheddar are great matches. Be careful of your consumption.
- Chocolate-Covered Frozen Bananas look fancy. What you gotta do is freeze some banana slices dunked into melted dark chocolate for full coverage. You roll them on some nuts for added crisp and flavor. Two to three slices have 70 calories.
- Sweetened Popcorn but make your own in order for you to control the added sweeteners for a healthier version. Your own mixture of cinnamon and sugar will do.
- Frozen Yogurt Bars have just 80 calories per bar.
