DOC WILLIE ONG – Herd immunity as a possible way to contain the spread Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)? Doc Willie Ong says something about this.
As of today, to beat the pandemic Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) seems a blur to everyone but people also have to know that experts and scientists are also doing their best efforts to create a cure to this. Millions of people got killed because of this virus and although time’s passing by, it seems like the world has stopped working because of the health crisis.
The pandemic will surely, this is what Dr. Willie Ong has said in his recent post regarding the crisis. He cited that even the worst like the Spanish Influenza has met its end. Thus, he discussed herd immunity which is one possible way for him to end the current pandemic.
Herd immunity can accordingly earn two results: people can either create a safe and effective vaccine or higher number of people who got recovered after being infected. However, the big risk of this is that people cannot just go and roam around freely and go on spreading the virus as the cases could suddenly sky rocket. For mainly, the aim is to flatten the curve.

Meanwhile, as discussed many times, there are many ways to slow down the transmission of the virus:
- avoid mass gatherings
- social distancing to as to avoid being in close contact with anyone
- staying at home as much as possible
- washing your hands regularly for at least 20 seconds or using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that has at least 60% alcohol
- wear a face mask if in public places
- bear in mind to cover mouth with the elbow when sneezing or coughing
- avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
- clean and disinfect flat surfaces and objects such as doorknobs, light switches, electronics and counters, daily
- isolate yourself if you are feeling sick
