Based on the study, skipping breakfast was a predictor of depression, but an inflammatory diet also increased risk. It was also stated that eating breakfast might reduce inflammation and reduce depression. However, focusing on breakfast foods that are anti-inflammatory would be an even bigger boost to well-being.
The authors of the study stressed this point: “Besides the frequency of eating breakfast, what you eat for breakfast was associated with chronic inflammation.”
Whole grain, like oatmeal, low-fat yogurt without added sugars, fresh fruits and vegetables, eggs, and low-fat sources of protein are examples of foods that lower inflammation in the body.
It is advised not to start your day with inflammatory foods that include pastries and donuts, processed meats, and those high in saturated fat such as bacon and sausage, white bread (sorry, everything bagels), and sugary cereal. Also included in this is the most common favorite of many. the sweetened coffee drink.
