PREGNANCY TIPS – Doc Liza Ong shares some pregnancy tips about foods that pregnant women should eat in order to maintain a healthy body for the baby.
A healthy diet during pregnancy is very important because it is your life and your child’s life at stake if you will be taking this condition lightly and not seriously. At this state, a woman’s body needs additional nutrients, vitamins, and minerals because you are also feeding and nurturing another life inside your womb. If you lack nutrients in your diet, this may affect the growth of the baby.
Read some of these essential tips for pregnant women below:
- Folic Acid – The baby inside the womb needs this in order to prevent development of mental diseases, problems with the nervous system or the spinal cord, and nerves. Bananas, peanut butter, orange juice, corn flakes, green beans, and green peas are some of the foods rich in folic acid that women should eat before and during pregnancy.
- Calcium – This is for the bones and teeth of both the mother and the child. Calcium-rich foods are milk, yogurt, cheese, sardines, and green leafy vegetables such as spinach and malunggay.
- Iron – This is for the blood of the mother because she will surely lose a lot of blood upon giving birth and it can be found in foods such as liver, green leafy vegetables, iron-fortified cereals, and beans.
- Protein – This can be found in eggs, meat, and milk because protein is made up of amino acids. Protein are the building blocks of your body’s cells – and of your baby’s body as well.
