HEATSTROKE – Doctor Willie Ong explained the symptoms of heat stroke and gave tips on how to avoid it.

Stroke is one of the top causes of death in the Philippines. It has taken the lives of a lot of people by surprise as it can happen anywhere, anytime. One of the types of stroke that is very rampant in the country is heatstroke.

The said type of stroke is a condition characterized by the overheating of the body. It is more common during the summer season when the people have no choice but to face the intense sunny weather.

According to Dr. Willie Ong, there are at least three(3) common signs or symptoms indicating a heatstroke. Here is a list of these warning signs:

  • Dizziness
  • Vomiting / Nausea
  • Extreme sweating

The said stroke can lead to a severe case when not given an urgent medical attention. The doctor also cited the symptoms showing that the condition is getting worst. Here are they:

  • No sweat comes out from the body
  • Reddish skin
  • Body temperature increases

Aside from the symptoms of heatstroke, in his video, Dr. Willie Ong also shared some tips on how to avoid the said health condition. There are at least four(4) ways on how to prevent it from occurring;

  1. Drink at least eight(8) glasses of water every day.
  2. Always check your urine color as it indicates your hydration level. If it is color yellow or orange, it means you are dehydrated.
  3. Do not consider taking an exercise during the sunny weather.
  4. Eat banana when you are always sweaty and lethargic.
