What are the possible COVID-19 vaccine side effects after getting the jab?
COVID-19 VACCINES – Here are the possible side effects after getting a jab of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine.
After a year of being hit by the devastating pandemic COVID-19, scientists were finally able to create a vaccine against it. This is the only hope and solution people are seeking to have everything back to its normalcy.
As per the website of the Department of Health, the vaccine works by mimicking the virus or bacteria and trigger the production of antibodies which will provide the body protection from the infection. The difference between these vaccines is due to their composition and how it will trigger a response from the immune system in making the antibodies.
Pain, redness, itchiness or swelling at the injection site (which may last a few hours), fever, feeling of weakness or fatigue, headache, dizziness, diarrhea, or nausea are the possible side effects one may encounter after the vaccination. The top priorities to have the jab are the health workers, senior citizens, indigent population, and uniformed personnel. These persons are at higher risk of being infected due to exposure brought about by the nature of their work.
If you feel any discomfort after vaccination, make sure to always consult your doctor first before taking any over-the-counter medicine, such as ibuprofen, aspirin, antihistamines, or acetaminophen.
Also, for the most protection, it might take one more shot. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevent (CDC), if you had the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, the second must be three weeks after the first one, and if Moderna, it must take 1 month or 28 days to have the second shot after the first shot.
