Globally, over 220,000 people were infected by the disease. The death toll has surpassed 8,000.
The coronavirus symptoms are similar to flu. A patient may experience cough, fever, and breathing difficulties. Undeniably, having flu nowadays can get someone paranoid and stressed because of the crisis now.
Coronavirus Vs. Flu: How Do You Distinguish One from the Other?
Based on Healthline, PharmD Ramzi Yacoub explained that coronavirus and flu got similar symptoms as they are both caused by viruses – but different viruses causing infection.
Yacuob pointed out to the breathing difficulty as the symptom to be guarded. According to the SingleCare chief pharmacy officer, under coronavirus, breathing difficulty is really a common sign. It happens before a patient develops pneumonia.
Based on the article, Dr. Subinoy Das said that the breathing difficulty under COVID-19 occurs five (5) to ten (10) days after the first fever.
In the case of flu, it does not cause the shortness of breath unless the condition fell to pneumonia. Dr. Das expressed that “influenza does mimic COVID-19 very closely but the shortness of breath is not usually as severe as it is with COVID-19”.
